Abstract: I  collect data describing total depth, mean current velocity and substrate characteristics (% - silt, debris, sand, gravel, cobble, boulder and bedrock) at 100 random points along 1 m transects within each 100 m site. Data are collected seasonally to investigate spatial and temporal patterns of habitat variability in upper Coweeta Creek. Flow data will be used to elucidate whether changes in habitat characteristics are correlated with high flow events.
Location(s), Described: Site 1: 100 m site - ca. 300 m downstream of Ball and Shope Creeks confluence .
Site 2: 100 m site - ca. 0.5 km downstream of Site 1.
Site 3: 100 m site - ca. 0.5 km downstream of Site 2.
Site 4: 100 m site - begins just above mouth of Dryman Fork.

Sampling Frequency: Summer 1996, Fall 1996, late Spring 1997, late Summer 1997.
Data Columns: Date - yr/mm
Site - 100m sites, 1 Coweeta Creek (approximately 200m below confluence of Ball & Shope Creek, 4 Coweeta Creek (approximately 40m above confluence of Coweeta Creek & Dryman Fork Creek)
Depth - Water depth (cm)
CAB - (Current at bottom) Water velocity with probe on substrate; cm/s
AVCV - ave. water current; cm/s
If water depth <= 75 cm velocity taken at point 60% of depth from surface of water
If water depth > 75 cm mean velocity taken at points 20% & 80% of depth from surface of water
% composition of 7 substratum categories within 20cm X 20cm quadrat below fish
   % Bedrock - Imbedded rock
   % Boulder - > 30 cm
   % Cobble - < 30 cm and > 2.5 cm
   % Gravel - < 2.5 cm and > 0.2 cm
   % Sand - < 0.2 cm
% Silt - Material capable of suspension in water column
% Debris - Wood or leafy matter
